Is there any information that I cannot obtain from performing a Background check?
Yes. Each state has their own statutes governing what information can be shared with the employer. Some examples are: bankruptcies over 10 years old, civil suits, liens etc. over 7 years old. Some personal information requires the written permission of the applicant in order to obtain (i.e. military records, medical records, etc.). Some require the position salary to be above a certain threshold before some information can be released (i.e.$75,000).
